Wire Mesh Guards for Machinery
The Machinery Act 1950 requires that dangerous parts be securely fenced. This can be met by making guards of metal castings, sheet or perforated metal, woven wire, etc. In the case of wire mesh or perforated sheet steel guards, NZS 5801 Specification for the Construction and Fitting of Machinery Guards, which gives minimum requirements, should be followed. This leaflet presents the contents of the standard relating to wire mesh guards.
