Platen Presses - Guarding of Hand-Fed

Efficient operation of a hand-fed platen press requires the operator to adopt a rhythmic action synchronised with the movement of the machine. If for any reason this action comes out of synchronisation with the machine, accidents caused by the closing nip between platen and forme are likely. This guide covers the guarding required in order to prevent such accidents and comply with the requirements of the Machinery Act.
